SHOP TALK | UPGRADING THE MARIN HARD TAIL
Check out our latest REBUILD! Back in 2021 we took a 2020 Marin San Quentin frame and modififed it to accept an electric motor. This bike handles difficult terrain with ease and its a great long travel bike. However, with advancements in tech and our expanded capabilities, we decided to revisit this build and give this bike a big upgrade! Scroll below to see the modifications we made!
HIGHLIGHTED NEW FEATURES:
Removed the Kindernay geared hub and replaced it with a traditional derailleur cassette set up.
Features: Microshift Advent Medium Cage Derailleur with a clutch and paired it with a e-bike specific 11-42 cassette with a Microshift trail pro single click shifter and topped it off with a KMC e-bike specific chain in gold.

Shortened the main wiring harness to fit the bike perfectly. Extremely shortened the power leads to the battery and shortened the wiring on both the shift sensor and shift sensor lead from the motor all to fit perfectly on the bike.
Changed the battery to a CYC Hard Cased 52v 15ah battery capable of high discharge rates. Modified the mounting bracket to make a very strong and secure mount. The new battery locks on with a key and can be easily removed for storage and travel. Also the new battery can charge your phone or other devices with a built in usb-c port.

THIS IS OUR NEW BLOG SERIES, SHOP TALK.
Here on our blog you can find quick updates from our shop. With bikes coming in and out, we don’t always have time to feature all the bikes. We decided to create a space to highlight some of the awesome rides, that didn’t make it to the studio photoshoots, as well as bikes in progress so you can see the builds start to finish.
